How to Check WAEC Result Online
On your smartphone or computer, visit the WAEC result checker portal here.
Select your exam type: Private Candidates Result (popularly known as WAEC GCE) or School Candidate Result (WAEC SSCE).
Enter your examination number and select the year you wrote the exam.
Enter your pin and serial number. Each candidate gets a free WAEC result checker details after a successful registration. WAEC SSCE candidates can find this on the WAEC ID card given to them by their schools.
For WAEC GCE candidates, you can find this at the bottom of your exam photo card.
If you have used your result checker pin more than 5 times or you do not have any, you can purchase another WAEC result checker pin online.
After entering your pin and serial number, click the submit button.
Your result will appear in a new pop-up window. Click the print button to print your result or to save it as a PDF file.
How to Check WAEC Result Via SMS
Get the WAEC result checker pin if you do not already have one.
From any phone with an MTN, Airtel or Glo line, send a text message in this format;
WAEC*ExamNo*PIN*Examyear
Replace ExamNo with your WAEC examination number, check your result checker pin and enter the pin alone (you don’t need the serial number in this method), then finally replace Examyear with the year the exam was written.
The text message costs ₦30.
We highly recommend that you do not check your result through the SMS method. Instead, check online or go to a cyber cafe and ask an attendant to help you check.
The SMS method barely works, and if it does, you cannot get a printed version of your result; hence, you still need to check online.
How to Properly Check WAEC Result at a Cyber Cafe
Visit any cyber cafe that is close to you with a WAEC result checker pin, if you don’t already have one. Take extra cash along so you can purchase one at the cyber cafe.
Supply the cyber cafe attendant with your WAEC examination number, exam year, exam type and result checker pin.
With this information, the cafe attendant should be able to get your WAEC result.
Collect a printed copy and tell the attendant to send the PDF copy to your email address. This way, you have a copy in your email, even if you lose the printed copy that was given to you.

This section of the article is for fresh secondary school graduates.
You’ve seen your result. Did you perform well?
Many tertiary institutions in Nigeria now use your O-level result grades (A1 to F9) to determine if you should be admitted or not.
So, getting plenty A’s and B’s (A1, B2 and B3) can increase your chances of getting admission into a competitive tertiary institution for a competitive course.
If your result is not so good, you should consider enrolling for the WAEC GCE examination.
The whole process doesn’t end with seeing your result.
Will you be proceeding to a university, polytechnic or college of education? If yes, you need to start preparing for the JAMB UTME Exam. Do not wait until a few months before the exam to begin preparation. Early preparation builds confidence, sharpens your skills, and puts you ahead of the competition.
If you won’t be attending a tertiary institution, you should learn a skill. The world is ruthless to those who are unprepared, but it rewards those who are equipped. Acquiring a valuable skill empowers you to create opportunities for yourself, earn a living, and shape your own future, regardless of the path you choose.
