Documents and Information Required for JAMB UTME Registration
There are documents and information that will be required during the JAMB UTME registration. It is important that you have these items before going to a JAMB registration centre. These items are;
NIN
To register for the JAMB UTME exam, candidates must have a National Identification Number. I believe you already have your NIN. If you do not have it, visit the nearest bank to register for your NIN.
During the NIN registration, make sure your surname, first name and middle name are spelt correctly. Also, confirm that your date of birth is accurate and matches the one on other documents you have (e.g., your WAEC or NECO certificate).
Phone Number
You will need a phone number to generate a JAMB profile code. If you do not have a phone at the moment, you can use your parents’ phone number to generate a JAMB profile code, provided the phone number has not been used for JAMB registration before.
However, it is strongly recommended that the phone number used should be registered with your personal details and remain accessible to you throughout the registration and examination process. This phone number will be used by JAMB to send important messages such as your profile code, check your UTME result or accept your admission when admitted.
If you do not have a personal phone, you can register a SIM card with your details, insert it into your parent’s or guardian’s phone, and use it to generate your JAMB profile code. Once the process is completed, remove the SIM card and keep it in a safe place.
Email Address
Although you might not need an email address at the initial stage of the JAMB registration, it is very important to have a valid and active email address before or after completing your registration.
Your email address will also be required when creating or accessing your JAMB e-Facility portal, where you can check your result, print your admission letter, and perform other important tasks. Using an email address that you have personal access to will help you avoid a lot of headaches.
If you do not already have an email address, it is advisable to create one before visiting a JAMB-accredited CBT centre. Ensure you remember your email address and password and keep them safe, as you will need them throughout the admission process.
O’level Result
While this is not compulsory during the JAMB UTME registration, as some students are still awaiting their O’Level results, candidates who already have their results are strongly advised to take them along to the JAMB-accredited CBT centre so that they can be uploaded during registration.
Uploading your O’Level result at the time of registration helps to prevent delays during the admission process. If your result is not uploaded during registration, you will be required to upload it later on through a JAMB CBT centre, and this usually attracts an additional fee.
Candidates using “awaiting result” should ensure that their O’Level results are uploaded on the JAMB portal as soon as they become available, as failure to upload results can prevent them from being considered for admission.

Purchase JAMB UTME Epin
Without the JAMB UTME Epin, you will not be able to complete your JAMB UTME registration. Fortunately, you can buy the JAMB UTME Epin from CareerMap on WhatsApp or on Remita.
For a detailed explanation on how to purchase the JAMB UTME Epin, check out this article.
After you have gotten the pin, proceed to the next step.
Choose your S.C.S
S.C.S is an acronym coined by CareerMap, it stands for School, Course and Subjects.
A lot of students go to JAMB CBT centres without doing a thorough research about the school they want to gain admission into and the course they are applying for.
When they get to the JAMB CBT centre, they allow the JAMB CBT attendants to choose random subjects for them.
Choose the school and course you want to apply for, then confirm the JAMB subject combinations required to study that course.
You can check subject combinations on the JAMB brochure or visit the school website.
Visit an Accredited JAMB CBT Centre
To complete your registration, visit a JAMB accredited CBT centre with the following Information or documents;
- JAMB Profile code
- JAMB UTME Epin
- O’Level result(s)
- Your email address and phone number.
JAMB accredited CBT centres usually have two screen monitors; one for the attendant filling the form and one for the candidate to follow along and make sure there’s no mistake.
If you are given a form to fill out, make sure that you fill I capital letters so that the attendant can clearly see your handwriting.
Pay the required fee, complete your registration and collect your printout.
Before you leave the JAMB CBT centre, check the JAMB UTME printout you were given and confirm that no error was made.
What’s Next?
When you check the printout given to you after registration, you will notice that the exam date, venue and time were not stated.
JAMB usually releases the exam date, venue and time a few weeks after registration. To be notified when it is released, join the CareerMap WhatsApp channel.
Another thing you need to do is to prepare for the UTME exam. The higher your JAMB UTME score, the better your chances of getting admission this year.
Skip TV, skip computer games, cut down your social media activities; you only have one shot to attempt this exam. If you mess up, you try again next year.
